Cross City Kids
We believe that parents are primarily responsible for making disciples of their children. However, we also believe that the entire church family is responsible for the discipleship of every child. It is in the context of the church family living as missionaries that children will best be discipled. Therefore, the most important thing we can do is to take responsibility for the discipleship of every child in our church. We must take an active interest in helping them see and learn what it means to follow Jesus, to live in community, and to pursue His mission. Most of this will happen outside of our Sunday and mid-week gatherings.
During our Sunday morning worship service, we have two classes for kids: Preschool (ages 2-5), and Elementary (ages 6-9). Although this schedule may shift slightly, this is the general flow for the Sunday morning kids worship time.
10:30-11:00am – Kids worship with parents in the main service
11:00am – Children’s Ministry & Nursery dismissal
11:45am – Kids rejoin parents back in service
Nursery is available for children under the age of 2 years old.
We use the Gospel Story Curriculum which takes kids on a three-year journey to understand God’s plan of redemption from Genesis through Revelation. There is an Old Testament (Finding Jesus in the Old Testament) and a New Testament (Following Jesus in the New Testament) curriculum that we teach through. You can view accompanying resources here. We recommend using the Long Story Short and Old Story New family devotional books at home throughout the week. You also might want to buy a copy of The Gospel Story Bible: Discovering Jesus in the Old and New Testaments that we use in the classes on Sunday mornings.
